FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: How should I shoot my scene or monologue?

A: Always follow these basics.

1) You should be the only one in the scene/monologue. If it's a two person scene have the other person off camera.

2) Keep the camera still - use a tripod if you have one.

3) Make sure we can see your face clearly. When casting directors video tape actors for producers to see, they will often start with a quick full body shot and then slowly zoom in to the actors face. REMEMBER: WHATEVER THE FIRST SHOT IS, THAT WILL BE THE THUMBNAIL FOR YOUR VIDEO - SO DON'T HAVE A BLACK SCREEN TO START.

4) Choose a background color that makes you stand out and works with your skin tone.

5) The lighting should be on your face - NOT BEHIND YOU! When you do place the light in front of you make sure that what is behind you is not a reflective surface.

6) Make sure we can hear you. If someone is reading a scene with you (off camera) don't have them sit right next to the camera - they will be loud and you will not.

7) HAVE FUN! Play around with your scene/monologue and shoot if a few different ways from different angles, then choose the best one to upload.

Q: What scene/monologue should I choose to film?

Q: Pick two scenes or monologues. One comedy and one drama to show your range. Choose material that shows your strengths. There is no right or wrong choice as long as you are creating a character that the viewer can engage with, and the scene or monologue can stand on it's own.

Q: Why is Actinglink the best site for young actors to showcase their talent?

A: The team behind ACTINGLINK are experienced Talent Agents, Managers, Casting Directors and Producers who know how to market actors to their friends and colleagues in the industry. Our colleagues trust us to present them with well trained exciting new talent - for this reason not every actor is accepted on to the site. The actors that are on the site receive a great deal of attention from the industry. ACTINGLINK is designed for easy use by representatives looking to sign new clients and casting directors looking to discover new talent for their projects. Also, each video can be rated on and critiqued by industry professionals, giving actors feedback on what works and what may need work.
